KEMET made an announcement in October 2007 regarding its agreement to acquire Arcotronics Italia S.p.A., a prominent manufacturer of plastic film, metallized plastic film capacitors, and wet tantalum capacitors. In addition to producing capacitors, Arcotronics is also a leading manufacturer of machinery for batteries and film capacitors. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, and China. In the fiscal year ending on December 31, 2006, Arcotronics achieved total consolidated sales of approximately €150 million (equivalent to around U.S. $207 million at the prevailing exchange rates).
