Hitachi AIC manufactures mainly large can electrolytic capacitors such as snap-in types and screw terminal types for high power applications but also plastic film capacitors. Hitachi AIC was part of the Hitachi group of companies. Capacitors are electronic components that charge and discharge in electronic circuit, and are used broadly in a wide range of products from household appliances to industrial equipment/systems. Capacitors manufactured and sold by Hitachi Chemical have advantages in high voltage, high capacitance and excellent durability, and are highly evaluated by customers primarily for industrial equipment applications. However, it has become difficult for capacitors for industrial device use to ensure profit due to progressing commoditization and intensified competition with Chinese and other competitors.
Hitachi Chemical has decided, in light of strengthening the Business and sustained growth, to spin off a company in the HAIC group that primarily manufactures anodized aluminum foil and aluminum electrolytic capacitors in China.
